Malibu Surfing Association

Malibu Surfing Association - Stewardship

Since the MSA's beginnings in 1961, we've been actively involved as part of the community we love and surf in -- Malibu.

Dating back to the early 60s when the club founders hosted "Seat Belt" clinics (where MSA members would install these "new" devices into cars for residents) to the original "You have been helped by a member of the MSA" cards that were handed out whenever a good deed was done - the MSA has always worked towards creating a safe and healthy environment.

Today, the MSA actively supports the Malibu community by hosting one of the largest and oldest longboard surfing contests in California - The MSA Classic Invitational. The MSA Classic has its roots in the Golden Age of longboarding, dating back to the first contest held at Surfrider Beach (1963, hosted by MSA).

That history, combined with the efforts of our members, our partners, and our friends, has given MSA the ability to support the greater Malibu community like no other club. The MSA is proud to be the only surfing club dedicated to both a fellowship of surfing and a stewardship of its home surfing break.
